The B-2 Tourist Visa allows the holder to travel to the US for tourist and leisure purposes. Not everybody requires a B-2 visa to travel to the US. Many people can travel visa free on the Visa Waiver Program. If, however, you are ineligible to travel on the Visa Waiver Program (because, for example, you are a national of a country that does not participate in the Visa Waiver Program or you have ever been arrested or convicted of any offence) you willl need a B-2 visa.
